Health Information System

Health Information Systems in Pakistan collect data primarily from the vertical health programmes and District Health Information System (DHIS). Data quality issues of these avenues mean that there is a lack of reliable ongoing monitoring data. In such a situation there is a need to rely of demographic health and social and living measurement to collect information on health indicators. Research conducted is disjointed and seldom relevant to local issues. Quality of research limited due to capacity issues. The Government has embarked on establishing an effective, Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response system, with a particular focus on early warning system. Innovative technologies will be used to strengthened information systems at national, provincial, and district levels.
